Lyme Energy Committee Minutes
January 18, 2005
Lyme Center Academy Building
7:00 PM

Present:  Frank Bowles, Matt Brown, Tina Cullenberg, Tom Hunton, Denis Kelemen, Carola Lea,  John Stadler

1.  Minutes of the December meeting were approved.

2.  Tom-  plans to get town electric bills from Dina Cutting;  will bring to next meeting

3.  Matt-  needs emails from Claudia, Frank, John

4.  Status of Town Garage-  Matt
        A.  Has attended two meetings of the Highway Committee
B.  A long discussion was held.   Complex mechanical issues are still being                                                                        resolved.
C.  Concerns include:
1)  Boiler protection valves were removed from the wood pellet boiler by Precision, jeopardizing TARM warranty.
2)   It is not certain that a professional engineer (PE) is overseeing the installation.  Is installation ASME certified?  (American Society of Metallurgical Engineers).
3)  It appears that the pump does not have a name plate on it, which is illegal.
            D.  Comments:
1)       Tom-  when Precision agreed to take on the installation of a working wood pellet boiler they owned it.  Precision needs to live up to the contract.

2)  Matt-  problems are not related to the wood pellet boiler but to the basic heat distribution system, the plumbing.  What is Precision’s experience putting in radiant heat?

4)  Denis-  has used Dartmouth Thayer School of Engineering as an objective evaluator in the past.  Would their third party expertise be helpful?

5.  Garage tour-  Matt, Frank and Denis to attend tomorrow, Tuesday at 1:00 PM

6.  Next steps:
Matt will wait until more data is available and will attend the next Highway Committee meeting.

Denis will ask colleagues at Thayer School of Engineering about consulting as an objective party.

Tom will bring town electric bill information to the next meeting.

Respectfully submitted,
