Freda Swan?

3) What could be source of money for wood pellet boiler- ?Lyme Foundation
4) Lloyd Nichols described basic choices of Unit heater (air) vs. radiant floor a) Potentially saving 1/3 due to increased efficiency of heating high
mass (floor) vs. air
b) Examples- Foxboro Stadium, airport hangers, school gyms
c) Greatest heat loss with open doors of seven bays, less with radiant flooring
d) Need cost analysis
e) Increase cost of heating air (60% more) than heating floor (30% savings)
f) 3-4 year pay back though initially more costly
g) Study environmental impact through Harris Center for Conservation Education, Hancock, NH
5) Our role in public hearings- much discussion followed
a) It was agreed that LEC would be willing to endorse plans for Town Garage only after cost/benefit analysis was done with input from reputable independent(s) specializing in energy conservation
such as:
-Teni Bannick (CN Carley Associates)
-John Unger Murphy (Murphy's Cell Tech)
-Henri Fennel (Foam-Tech)
b) Determine verification of efficiency and environmental impact from objective sources (Harris Center)
c) Encourage consultation with PSNH and NH Rebuilds program for free energy audits
d) Claudia to write statement for Facilities Committee meeting Friday AM
c. School related projects
1) Compact Fluorescent Sale for 6th grade - Phil Kern reporting
a) Bulbs purchased through Foggs Hardware cheaply in VT
b) NH is different due to NH Saves catalog - in NH, NH Saves is a
concept rather than an entity; each public utility operates own program
c) All utilities will meet at end of month. Rep from NHEC will bring the idea of supporting fundraiser to the meeting and get back to us. Rep is enthusiatic about the idea.
d) It may be difficult to combine fund-raiser with Nichols Hardware but Lloyd Nichols interested in looking into becoming a participating retailer in NH Saves program through PSNH
2) Wind feasibility- Denis Kelemen absent
3) Solar on Schools- no report
d. Town Energy Survey- committee given copies of Thetford Town Energy Survey to
review by next meeting

interested in learning more about
3) To build database of residents willing to share their experiences with energy conservation applications
