Subject: Meeting #8 Minutes

1.  The minutes of meeting #7 were accepted without change.

2.  Dave Avery reported that he contacted American Tower. They said they had no interest in a Lyme location because they see no market here. Dave also spoke with Finowen and offered to send them a copy of our Telecommunications Zoning Ordinance. They seemed to have a negative reaction when they heard the word "zoning". Wally Ragan commented that Lyme has a negative image with cellular tower companies, who do not realize that we have a new ordinance that broadens considerably our telecommunications zoning.

3.  John Sanders reported that Finowen has a "done deal" to install a whip antenna and small dish on the Treadwell property near pinnacle. It will provide internet service to users on the north side of town.

4.  It was reported that a cell company has reached agreements to install a tower in Fairlee or West Fairlee.  No one present knew the names of the parties involved.

5.  John Sanders said that Boosted Digital - which involves and in-vehicle amplifier - will yield coverage up to Bailey's turkey farm from Hanover, and also to other locations including Franklin Hill Road. George Hartmann has seen it work as far as Tony Perry's garage, near the Orford line.

6.  It was reported that Verizon was installing an antenna in the White Church in Hanover.  Wally Ragan has tried to contact them in the past (Bruce Gansby - 603-226-1433) but with no success. George Hartmann volunteered to attempt seeking out a good contact for Verizon's marketing efforts in the area.

7.  It was mentioned that Judy Brotman was the Zoning Administrator for Hanover, and probably has had contact with Verizon or other cell service providers.  Pete Bleyler volunteered to speak with her.

8.  Dave Foster, the electrical engineer for Dartmouth, can spend a maximum of three hours on a project without a formal work order. He told Dave Avery that if we can answer the safety issues surrounding running AC power on the Winslow lift towers, he can use his 3 hours to address the technical issues.

[Note to Mike Hinsley:  we really need whatever answers you were able to get on the safety issue. Please give Dave Avery a call at home on 795-9337.]

9.  Wally Ragan will contact Royal Electric, who did all of the electrical work at the Skiway, to ask what blocks of work would be involved in running 20 kva of power up to Winslow. He will also try to revive a previous contact he had with Unicell, back when it was CellularOne. [He has already given Atlantic Cellular a good try, but they have nothing in Enfield.]

10.  Dave Avery reported that the College has made an offer to WaveComm to install an internet tower at Winslow, based on the savings resulting from not having to rent a phone line from the Skiway to Hanover. WaveComm has not yet replied.

11.  Action Items:
a]  Wally Ragan will contact Royal Electric to investigate AC power possibilities on Winslow; will also contact Unicell; and will try to get information on what Atlantic Cellular has done in Enfield.

b]  Pete Bleyler will ask Judy Brotman for information on her cell company experience in Hanover.

c]  George Hartmann will try to get the name of the Verizon person responsible for marketing wireless services in our area.

12.  The next meeting will be at the Lyme Fire Station July 6, at 8:15 am.
