Minutes of Meeting – January 29, 2014; meeting called to order at 12:00pm. Present: Ken Fowler; Ed Lane; Channing Gibson; Dave Roche; John McNinch.
The Board met to discuss the three town manager candidates, and to determine who they would like to offer the position to. DR thanked the committee for their hard work and getting the Town here. He also thanked Mary Ellen Deming and Jeff Vincent for stepping in in the interim and doing a good job keeping the Town going. DR stated that he would like each board member to state who they would like to vote for and what their thoughts are. EL stated that there were three good candidates, all with different skills. He sees finance as the most important skill needed, and therefore is going with Chris Ketchun. KF agreed that finance is very important. He also liked Chris’ ambition, as well as his knowledge of economic development. JM agreed that finance is key. He liked Jason Hoch’s
experience and leadership abilities, but his vote is for Chris Ketchun. CG stated that John Haverstock didn’t appear to be a good fit for Lenox, and that he went back and forth between Chris Ketchun and Jason Hoch. He feels that Chris would be better dealing with the many sophisticated businesses in town, and he appreciated his forward thinking attitude. Therefore, his vote is for Chris Ketchun. DR stated that he feels that Chris Ketchun is the best candidate of the three. He has MA experience and will serve the town well. MOTION by JM, seconded by KF to enter into contract negotiations with Christopher Ketchun.
