Minutes of Meeting – September 11, 2012; meeting called to order at 6:00pm. Present: John McNinch; Ed Lane; Channing Gibson; Dave Roche. Absent: Ken Fowler.
The Board held a joint meeting with all members of the School Committee to appoint someone to replace Jeremiah Ames who resigned. Don Fitzgerald, chairman of the School Committee, facilitated the meeting. Brief interviews were held with the three candidates that submitted letters of interest in filling the vacancy created by Jeremiah Ames (term expires May 2014). (letters)
After the interviews, nominations were made and seconded for each of the three candidates: Michael Moran, Chuck Kosher and Jody Schwab-Prunier. The chair, taking the nominations in the order they were made, asked for those in favor of appointing Michael Moran: Veronica Fenton, Joanne McGee, Fran Sorrentino, Dave Berkel, Jennifer Rhineholt and John McNinch. This being a majority, there was no need to consider votes for the other candidates. Michael Moran will be the new School Committee member. The joint meeting with the School Committee adjourned at 6:35pm. (Ken Fowler entered the meeting.)
The Selectmen joined the Planning Board to hear a presentation by 1Berkshire and the services they provide. After the presentation by 1Berkshire, the Board took up two new business items:
MOTION by DR, seconded by El to approve temporary sandwich board signs at the library while the gallery entrance is blocked during the painting project. 5/0 vote. MOTION by JM, seconded by DR to approve a small fall marketing effort highlighting Lenox events on the Berkshire Visitor’s Bureau web site. Costs are not to exceed $2000 for additional marketing of the Town, 5/0 vote.
