Minutes of Meeting – January 20, 2010; meeting called to order at 7:00 pm.
Present: L Messana; D Trancynger; J McNinch. Absent: KR Flynn; RN Sandlin.
MOTION by DT, seconded by JM to accept the Minutes of January 6 as presented. 3/0 vote.
Green Community Initiatives: The TM gave a brief overview of projects that the Town is looking into: Perform an analysis for a wind turbine; raise homeowner awareness of their energy usage through a Lenox “Take Charge” Campaign; provide potential solar site at the Town’s capped landfill; adoption of Stretch Code which now requires town meeting vote, with an effective date of January 2011.
LM mentioned that there is a vacancy on the Finance Committee, and that any one interested in serving on this committee should submit a letter of interest to the Board.
MOTION by JM, seconded by DT to appoint the following individuals to the Economic Development Committee: Tom Romeo, Richard Wise, Nate Winstanley, Joe Nejaime and Larry Lane. 3/0 vote.
DPW Projects Update: Streetlights are all installed but not lit yet. The Board will hold a public forum on Phase II of the project at their 2/3 meeting. West Street project is moving forward with a construction start up at the end of the summer/early fall.
LM mentioned that the Board is looking to appoint individuals to the Village Improvement Committee. The Committee will be comprised of 9-15 members, and if you are interested in serving, please send a letter to the Selectmen’s office.
MOTION by DT, seconded by JM to approve the consent agenda which included the following:
One-Day A/A license to the Lenox Library for 1/30 from 8pm-1am at the Library; One-Day W&M license to the Berkshire Montessori School Inc. for 1/29 from 7-9pm in the Community Center ballroom; Approval of a sign for Willow Creek Road Industrial Area, pending approval by the Planning Board; Appointment of Jeromy Richardson as an Assistant Local Building Inspector. 3/0 vote.
MOTION by JM, seconded by DT to appoint Greg Diefendorf and Nathan Rudd as Relief Firefighters. 3/0 vote.
Old/New Business: JM mentioned that he is working on having a gazebo built in Lilac Park. Fundraising will be ongoing as the project moves forward. LM reminded the audience again that the Ask The Selectmen option is now available on the computer. DT mentioned that Laura Spector will be going to the Olympics in February.
By roll call, LM, DT and JM voted to go into Executive Session at 7:30 p.m. to discuss contract negotiations, and to not return to open session.
