Minutes of Meeting – January 28, 2009; meeting called to order at 4:00 pm.
Present: RN Sandlin; L Messana; J McNinch; S. Pavlosky. KR Flynn recused herself.
This was a special meeting with the Planning Board (Ken Fowler, Katie McNulty Vaughan and Gary Schiff present for the Planning Board) to discuss the proposed ACEC and whether the boundary lines should be altered.
After considerable discussion reviewing the pros and cons of altering the boundary lines, the consensus was that keeping the proposed boundary lines as originally proposed should be supported. The additional protection the ACEC might afford, particularly in regards to the clean-up of the PCB’s, outweighs any negatives the extra reviews being in the ACEC might impose. As supported by evidence from other towns with ACEC’s, it was felt that a well designed and thought-out project would have little trouble navigating the permitting process that the State will require for projects within an ACEC.
MOTION by RNS, seconded by JM that Lenox support the ACEC as originally proposed. 4/0 vote by BOS; 3/0 vote by Planning Board.
