Tony Salvatore retired as a Lenox Police Officer after 32 years of service.  The Board thanked him for his many years of service, and presented him with a citation.  Tony thanked all those who helped him along the way, and extended his appreciation to all.

LM stated that Tom Roche and Lou Bertocci have been working for the past 19 summers with teens doing landscaping work for the various housing authority properties, and suggested that the Board acknowledge them.  The Board praised them for all of the work that they have done around Town over the past 19 years, and will present them with a citation at a later date.

MOTION by RTA, seconded by LM to ratify the appointment of Ryan Kresiak as a Reserve Police Officer and Michael Snyder as a Traffic Officer.  4/0 vote.

Lilac Park:  LM brought up the need to repair/replace the slate located in front of the cannon in Lilac Park.  The options are as follows:  replace current slate with thicker slate, remove slate and repair sidewalk with asphalt, remove slate and replace with imprinted concrete that will resemble slate or move the cannon back away from the sidewalk.  After some discussion, it was agreed that the best long-term solution was to go with the imprinted concrete.  If necessary, as a short-term fix, the sidewalk portion of the slate could be replaced temporarily with asphalt.  RTA offered to speak with members of the Garden Club to obtain their thoughts on using imprinted concrete resembling slate for a permanent fix.

Suzanne Pelton came before the Board requesting permission to erect three temporary signs from Thursday-Saturday – 2 at the monument and 1 in Lilac Park – to advertise their house tours on Saturday, 8/11.  After some discussion, MOTION by SP, seconded by RTA to grant permission for the 3 signs at the locations requested.  3/1 vote with LM opposed.  It was agreed that the Town needs to seek a permanent policy for temporary signs.

The Board received a letter from Theresa Ahrens stating her interest in serving on the Affordable Housing Committee.  The Board will refer this letter to the Committee and ask for their recommendations to fill the two remaining vacancies.

MOTION by RTA, seconded by SP to sell a surplus1996 Mack Dump Truck to David Lane for the amount of $21,500.50 as this was the highest bid received.  4/0 vote.

Old/New Business:  SP asked to have various department heads attend BOS meetings to give updates on their departments.  He suggested that Chief O’Brien attend the 8/29 meeting.  In addition, he suggested that Land Use personnel attend the 8/29 workshop to update the Board on major activities in Town.  He also questioned if there is something that the Town can do to limit the length of time on construction projects.  RNS  informed the Board that Claire Cox has offered to work with the Board to produce newsletters to keep the general public informed of activities occurring in Town.

Meeting adjourned at 6:30 pm.
