Minutes of Meeting – December 3, 2007; meeting called to order at 10:00 a.m.
Present: JH Pumphrey; L Messana; RT Akroyd; S Pavlosky. Absent: RN Sandlin.
Acting Chairman RTA opened the Property Tax Classification Hearing. Chairman of the Board of Assessors, Jim Kincaid, stated that new growth is significantly higher than anticipated at $36,500,000. He also stated that residential values are up 9/10% and that Commercial/Industrial values are down 2.5%, due mainly to the high cost of utilities. The Assessors are recommending a residential rate of $8.82 and a commercial rate of $12.45, which results in an average tax bill increase of 2.5% for both types of property. MOTION by JHP, seconded by LM to adopt a dual tax rate. 4/0 vote. MOTION by JHP, seconded by LM to adopt a residential tax rate of $8.82. 4/0 vote. MOTION by JHP, seconded by LM to adopt a commercial tax rate of $12.45. 4/0 vote.
