Mark Smith, returning as a member, was sworn in today.
The meeting was called to order 5:30 PM.
Town of Lenox Academy Building 65 Main Street, Map 43 Parcel 61, new sign. A historic
PJ disclosed that she is a member of the Historical Society but felt that she could be impartial. No one had any objection to her participation.
Presenting the application was Jenifer Picard. The existing sign is two sided. The replacement sign, hardwood, which is from the early 1900s, was in the possession of Charlie Flint. It has never been used and Mr. Flint is donating it. The sign is scalloped at the top and bottom and from the very outer edges, it measures 41” by 23”. Ms. Picard noted that if one deducted the cutouts of the scallops, the sign would be close in size to the existing sign. The sign will be white, with black lettering.
ES made a motion to accept sign as presented. PJ seconded the motion and the Commission voted to approve by a vote of 3-0.
Bob Romeo, Lenox Print and Mercantile, 11 Housatonic St., Map 43 Parcel 175 has requested permission to replace an awning.
Presenting the application was Arron Sondrini of Sondrini Enterprises. He stated that they are replacing the existing unit. The reason for having to come before the HDC is because the awning includes signage.
PJ made the motion to approve the request. ES seconded the motion and the Commission voted to approve 3-0
Approve Minutes: May 17, 2016-Tabled as there was not a quorum. JB, KF and ES would need to be present to vote. The minutes will be carried forward to June 21, 2016.
