Graphic Impact Signs 7 Main St., (from Lenox National Bank to Adams Community Bank) Map 43 Parcel 17, signs.

Alex Tetlow of Graphic Impact Signs made the presentation. The replacement will be “like to like” signs, one of which is the directional sign.  The historic monument, a safe, which sits on the front lawn, will remain but the lettering will be changed to reflect the new bank, but it will include that it had been the name of the Lenox National Bank.  LK informed Mr. Tetlow that there is a historical plague program in which this historic building would qualify.

Nothing in the Guidelines that prohibits signs which swing.  Grandfathering is not appropriate for signs.

LK made a motion to approve the signs as presented, MS seconded the motion and the Commission voted to agree 3-0.

Judy Bates, 31 Church St., Map 43 Parcel 169, sign.

Presenting her application was Judy Bates.  There is an existing sign post and she will be re-using a previous sign but with her design.  The building is the location where Century 21 has an office.

The depiction shows a small sign hanging from the larger.  This will be eliminated and that will be noted on the application.  The actual sign will be 18” X 24”.

LK made the motion to approve the application with specifics noticed on file copy. MS seconded the motion.  The Commission voted to approve 3-0.

Other Business-The Commission wanted to re-open its discussions from the past on neon signs.  MS said that he has been working on changing the sign bylaw for the last few years and that he will look into signs which swing.  It is best that signs swing for the wind load, but probably should be chained at the bottom to secure.  MS pointed out that recent signs that were approved are on chains and one was to be placed 8 feet above, but is about 6’ 2” and asked about enforcement.  LK said not only was there was a height issue, but that also the bracket on the Fountain of Youth is on a white bracket and she isn’t sure that the guidelines were followed for the window sign referring to the percent of coverage.  This will be placed on the next agenda for further discussion.

Approve Minutes-June 16, 2015-LK made a motion to approve the minutes as presented.  MS seconded the motion and the Commission voted to agree 3-0.

Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Ammendola
