Absent without notification: Jason Berger, JB
Staff present: Peggy Ammendola, PA

Berkshire Yogurt Frozen Self-Serve, 17 Franklin St. Map 43 Parcel 83, sign.

Making the presentation was Jerry Gallo, the owner of the establishment.  He provided a picture of the sign that he proposes.  The double sided sign would measure two feet by three feet and would be hung from the existing sign post.

ES made a motion to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for the sign as presented.  CC seconded the motion and the Commission voted to agree 3-0.

Mr. Gallo asked the Commission about the possibility of placing directional signage at the corner of Church and Franklin Streets to indicate that there are other businesses on Franklin St.  He said that years ago there was such a sign.  SS asked PA to ask Jeff Vincent, Superintendent of Public Works, if there was a sign.

5:45 pm Sushi Bar Asian Cuisine, 9 Franklin St. Map 43 Parcel 81, sign.

Assisting Mr. Yu Tao Wang in his request for a Certificate of Appropriateness for a new sign was Jackie Fisher.  The two foot by three foot sign would be placed on an existing post.  The wood sign would be painted white and the lettering would be black and a sketch of bamboo would be included.  Mr. Wang said that the letters would all be the same size.  Ms. Fisher provided a rendition of the sign.  ES said that she would prefer to see a mock up of the proposed sign before making a decision.  It was agreed that the applicant will return on July 19, 2011 to present a mock up of the sign.

In the interim, the applicant was advised that he could apply for a temporary sign from the Board of Selectmen who will meet on July 13, 2011.

ES made a motion to adjourn at 6:15 pm.  CC seconded the motion and the Commission voted to agree 3-1.

Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Ammendola
