Lenox Finance Committee Meeting
Date:                   March 8, 2018
Members Present:        Elliot Morss (EM), Mark McKenna (MM), David Neubert (DN)
Guests: Chris Ketchen - Town Manager (TM), Stephen O’Brien - Chief of Police, and Prospective Finance Committee Member, Kristine Cass
Kristine Cass – Guest
Absent: Joe Nejaime, Scott Pignatelli,  Vytas Barsauska

Meeting called to order at 5:35 PM.
Chief reviewed the budget which did not reflect any significant changes.  Capital budget is for a new undercover car which he will drive and his old car will go to the Fire Chief.  He noted there were 180 arrest last year and 14,749 calls.  He does not feel there will be much impact on the Police with the new hotels and resorts, as they are more high-end and do not attract criminal cliental.  Most of the problems come from the small mom & pop motels on the north end of town during the off season when they rent rooms very cheap and for cash.    Some discussion on potential Air B&B activity and effect on Police.  TM noted there is no noise bylaw in Lenox.

TM reviewed community center budget.  Only significant change is relative to the capital requirement for the new roof.

TM updated committee on Library and all is going as anticipated now that the Town is managing staff.  Directors continue to control the endowment and will raise the anticipated $130,000 toward annual operating expenses.

Next meeting on Thursday March 15, 2018 at 5:30pm.  Meeting adjourned:  6:45 PM

Respectively Submitted,
Mark McKenna, Secretary
