Minutes
Lenox Town Hall
Members present: Chair Neal Carpenter, NC; Vince Ammendola, VA; David Lane, DL; Tim Flanagan, TF; Rose Fitzgerald Casey, RFC; Joe Strauch, JS
Absent with notification: Dick Ferren, DF
Notice of Intent, Diana Engelhorn Trust, 950 East St., Map 33 Parcel 39. Installation of an in-ground pool structure and pool accessory building located within the 100’ buffer zone.
Present was Lin Schreiber, the General Manager for Diana Engelhorn Trust and Nicholas Andersen of Berkshire Engineering. Mr. Andersen presented the NOI and updated plans which reflected minor changes as a result of the site visit.
Part of the existing lawn which is within 25 feet of the BVW associated with an intermittent stream will be converted to an area which will have a pool, pool house, and fence. There will also be a retractable enclosure for the pool for year round use. The square footage of disturbance in the buffer zone will be 6400 square feet.
Drainage was a concern and TF stated that often property owners would construct a curtain drain with a gravel bed for water to drain out in the direction of the wetlands, something the Commission finds objectionable.
There will be a footing drain for ground water and a separate drain for pool water. Both drains will drain into the same area away from the wetlands. This was acceptable to the Commission.
DL made a motion to approve the project as presented and TF seconded the motion. The Commission voted to approve 6-0.
Site Visit: Jan 12, 2011 attended by Nick Andersen, NC, VA, JS and TF.
Minutes of January 6, 2011: RFC made a motion to approve the minutes and JS seconded the motion. The Commissioners voted to approve the minutes 6-0.
RFC made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm and VA seconded the motion. The Commissioners voted 6-0 to adjourn.
Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Ammendola
