August 2, 2007
Minutes
Land Use Meeting Room
Members present:
Chair Neal Carpenter, NC; Joe Strauch, JS; Dick Ferren, DF; David Lane, DL, Tim Flanagan, TF; Vince Ammendola, VA; Rose Fitzgerald Casey, RFC
Joe Toole, Hampton Inn, 439 Pittsfield Road, Map 33 Lot 1. Joe Toole, developer and Sarah Schulze of SK Design asked the Commissioners about a drainage revision on a previously approved plan. The revision would actually be a leach field of 12” perforated pipe and a 12” cover of gravel and include a storm septor model. This was not originally proposed because it is costly. The dimensions would be 41’ by 52’.
The Commissioners advised Mr. Toole to test the soils to find the high water mark to determine that this revision would work. If so, to file a revision and return to the Conservation Commission to be heard.
Gige Darey spoke informally to the Commission regarding Post Farm. Mr. Darey said that there is a program available through the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife for habitat restoration. The property, which consists of 298 acres, is becoming “scrubby” resulting in very little habitat. This program could be available at no cost to the Town.
If there is logging to be done, it was suggested that Conservation Commission ask that the proceeds be earmarked for Conservation Commission projects.
DL made a motion to apply to the program and TF seconded the motion. The Commission agreed 7-0.

Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Ammendola
