Corned Beef lunch scheduled for March 5, 2014.  Hosted by Mike & Francie Sorrentino.

Requested new volunteers for Brown Bag.   8 new volunteers needed.

Van service – 43 riders, 732 trips in January.

Youth Services:  Busy February vacation week, 30 kids for non-field trip, 40 kids for field trips.  Trips included ice skating at Boys & Girls club & movie at the Beacon.

Thank you to Sully & Matt Merritt for maintaining the ice skating rink.  Matt Merrit started an ice hockey clinic on Saturdays for about 8-10 kids.

After school programs finished – Fairy Workshop & Woodsman club.  Upcoming classes include Clay class, Chess club, Food Adventures, & Piano Kids.  Kids have enjoyed the ice skating rink, and use the homework room.  Thanks to 2 senior tax work off ladies & Emily Sorrentino for helping in the homework room.

Guy’s night scheduled for February 28th at Morris.

Directors Report:  Becky Sorrentino is interested in doing a Community Service Day project at LCC, with approximately 15 volunteers from Berkshire Bank.  This would include cleaning the game room & art room.  LCC to provide supplies needed.  This will be scheduled before summer camp begins.  Jim suggested adding a light to the hall way.  Kim will contact Scott Pignatelli.

Kim fired Matt Merritt from game room.  He was also a lifeguard last summer at the town beach.  He received several notices from Kim.

Emily Merrit has applied for a lifeguard position at the town beach.  She was highly praised from Mary Hart @ Stockbridge Bowl.  Only has 1 yr experience in water front, while LCC requires 2 yrs.  Kelsy will return as a lifeguard.  Still need a 3rd lifeguard.

Volunteer Appreciation night is scheduled for Saturday night, 3/8/14.  Honoring restaurants that cater to senior lunches and local clergy.  Rose Fitzgerald is honoring Keenan who helps in the homework room.  Scott Pignatelli will speak on the importance of volunteerism.

Kim mentioned that the Volunteer Appreciation night may have run its course.  It costs approx. $2,000 to run the event.  Does LCC want to continue w/ event?  Volunteers could be recognized with a small event.  Kim and Tony suggested maybe a Community day, after basketball court is re-done.  Could be held in summer 2015 or even earlier (April/May 2015.

Late Fee Pickup suggested.  Kim mentioned that other organizations charge a fee for picking up children late.  This has been a recurring issue at LCC, some kids getting picked up 20-25 minutes late.  A letter will be sent to families that abused the times repeatedly.  If it continues, Kim wants to propose late fees.

Summer Camp – proposal to change fee structure.  The numbers for summer camp have been growing.  The problem now is not knowing how many kids will be attending summer camp during the summer.    This makes it difficult to order supplies and plan.  LCC does not pre-register or register by sessions.  Proposal would be to pre-register by June 13th   for the summer morning sessions and field trips, after camp structure would not change.  Other camps charge by the week, while LCC charges one fee for the whole summer.  LYA is $37.50/wk no field trip.  Dalton is $88/wk with field trip.  LCC right now does $150 for 8 weeks with a family cap of $275 and $275 for non residents and no family cap.  60% of kids are Lenox kids, 40% are non residents.
Proposal would be $50/week including field trip for Lenox residents, and $60/week including field trips for non-residents, and a family cap $100/week.  Also must pre-register by June 13th and paid in full, no refunds.  Kim mentioned this is about control & safety.  This will also make it easier to order supplies and have enough supplies for all of the kids.
Will discuss and finalize at next meeting.

Next LCC Board meeting scheduled for March 26, 2014 at 7pm.

Meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Sheri Gaherty, Co-Chairperson.
