Community Preservation Committee
July 30, 2012
Minutes
Members present: Chair Frederick Keator (FK), Albert Harper (AH), Joe G. Strauch (JS), Catherine May (CM), Kate McNulty-Vaughan, (KMV), Eugene Chague (EC ) and Anthony Patella (AP).
Absent: Olga Weiss (OW).
Also in attendance: Mary Albertson (MA), Town Planner.
FK called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM.
Recent Changes to CPA Legislation
Members discussed the impact of changes to the CPA legislation. FK and MA suggested that members visit the Community Preservation Coalition (Coalition) website and review the information regarding changes to the legislation. The Coalition has scheduled a webinar. MA will forward the Coalition website information. Members are encouraged to participate in the webinar.
Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee
The Planning Board invited the CPC to appoint a member to the Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee. This is a short-term assignment. KMV and FK volunteered to serve as the CPC co-representatives to the Committee.
Potential Changes to the CPC Planning & Application Process
Members discussed meeting with the Board of Selectmen (BoS) to review the current CPC planning and application process. The Committee suggested that they meet with the BoS on Monday – August 27 @ 7:00 PM. MA will confirm this meeting date with the Town Manager and report back to the members via email.
The Committee discussed the current planning process. MA will forward a copy of the 2008 CPC Plan to the Committee via email. AH offered to prepare a mission statement. He will forward a draft mission statement to MA and she will distribute it to the members. The Committee will discuss the draft mission statement at the August 27th meeting.
