Minutes
Members present: Dave Klausemeyer (DK), Ellen Jacobson (EJ), Debbie Burke (DB), Kate McNulty-Vaughan (KMV) and Jo Anne Magee (JM).
Absent: Roscoe Sandlin and Olga Weiss.
Also in attendance: Mary Albertson (MA), Town Planner.
DK opened the meeting at 4:41 PM
JM made a motion to approve the April 11, 2011 - Minutes. Seconded by DB and unanimously approved.
Members discussed the fact that the Affordable Housing Committee voted on the CPC recommendations. The Trustees decided they should vote on the recommendations as well. DB made a motion to endorse the two CPC recommendations that involve funding for affordable housing: 1) $10,000 for the Affordable Housing Trust; and 2) Article 14 to bond for and purchase the Bartoni property. Seconded by EJ and unanimously approved.
JM said that she did some research on potential grant programs. She said the Department of Housing and Community Development website is a great resource. MA and JM discussed the potential for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application. JM said the Town’s CDBG “needs score” is competitive and the Town should consider a future application. MA suggested that the trustees discuss potential CDBG projects. She advised the committee that the CDBG application process cumbersome and competitive; and unfortunately there have been significant budget cuts in recent years. She suggested that the trustees may want to consider a partnership with the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC). MA will contact BRPC to see if they can attend the July meeting to discuss
the CDBG application process.
EJ made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:05 PM. DB seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
