PUBLIC HEARING FEBRUARY 13, 2012
Please be advised the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Lee will hold a Public Hearing at the Public Safety Complex, 20 George Bennett Road, Lee, NH on Monday, FEBRUARY 13, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. relative to rescinding SB2, as proposed by Petition Warrant Article 5.

ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to approve the following:  Shall we rescind the provisions of RSA 40:13 (known as SB 2), as adopted by the Town of Lee on March 8, 2011, so that the official ballot will no longer be used for voting on all questions, but only for the election of officers and certain other questions for which the official ballot is required by state law?''

You are invited to appear in person or by representation of agent or counsel to offer input regarding this matter.  Written correspondence submitted to the Selectmen’s Office will be acknowledged.  Deadline for submission is 4:00 pm on February 13, 2012.

SECOND SESSION: To the inhabitants of the Town of Lee, County of Strafford, State of New Hampshire, qualified to vote in Town Affairs, you are hereby notified to meet at the Public Safety Complex located on George Bennett Road, Lee on the 13th of March, 2012. The Polls will be open from 7:00 am  to 7:00 pm


THE LEE ENERGY COMMITTEE plans to co-sponsor a Home Energy Workshop, along with the Durham Energy Committee and the Oyster River Sustainability Committee, on Thursday, February 23rd,~at 6:30 pm, in the Multipurpose Room at Oyster River High School. (Snow Date: Tuesday, March 6th) Please join us for an evening of sound energy advice, hands on experience, with refreshments as we all learn the fundamentals of "buttoning up" our homes and making our region more sustainable and resilient.~ We are pleased to cosponsor this event with the Button Up, New Hampshire group based at the University of New Hampshire.

This year the “Tipping Fee” (the cost to dump our trash at the Rochester Landfill) is increasing from $74.15 to $76.38 per ton.~ This is further incentive to use our recycling facility to sort the recyclables out of your trash. Most citizens do a great job of recycling, as recycling revenue totaled $82,451 last fiscal year!~ Still, there are hundreds of dollars of recyclables weekly not being taken out of the trash.~ Please pass the word to your neighbors, Recycling Pays!!!          Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Need help paying your heating bills? There is still time to apply for assistance.
The 2011-2012 Low Income Home Heating Program (LIHEAP) season does not end until April 30. Anyone who needs help paying their heating bills still has time to apply for the program. The only way to know if you qualify is to make an appointment by contacting your nearest outreach office of Community Action Partnership of Strafford County at:

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
OYSTER RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT
Parents of prospective kindergarteners (children who will be 5 years of age by September 30, 2012) for the 2012-2013 school year are asked to stop in at Mast Way or Moharimet Elementary Schools to pick up kindergarten registration packets during school hours. Completed packets may be mailed or dropped off at either school  with the child’s birth certificate and immunization record ON OR BEFORE MONDAY, April 2.

New Hampshire Police and Firefighters from across the state come together in this battle of "Good vs. Good" to faceoff for kids at CHaD, the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
