Fuel Assistance
As school begins and we begin to think about the colder months ahead, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind all residents who are concerned about their upcoming heating bills this winter that NOW is the time to think about applying for Fuel Assistance through Strafford County Community Action. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, better known as Fuel Assistance, provides income-eligible households with help in paying energy bills during the winter heating months. You may also apply for the Electrical Assistance Program (this gives you a monthly discount on your electric bill) and Weatherization (this program can help to make your home more fuel efficient) at the same time. You may be eligible even if your heat is included in your rent! In that case payment would go to your landlord in lieu of rent. Here is the most exciting news of all: This year Strafford County Community Action and the Town of Lee have made arrangements for applications for the above programs to be accepted on one day, Tuesday October 11 here in Lee at the Public Safety Building. You MUST call the Dover office of Strafford County Community Action at 516-8130 to make an appointment as soon as possible in order to get an appointment on that date. If you are unable to make an appointment for that date, make sure you call the number above to make an appointment for another day. Don’t delay!!!
