High Rd Bridge Update
After many delays including waiting for three separate utility companies to move their lines construction has finally begun. The contractor R.M.Piper has made good progress this past week. They have dismantled and removed the old bridge, excavated a lot of unsuitable material and carted it off, and moved in and assembled a very large crane. The contractor has also removed most of the stone abutments and started driving steel sheeting to make a coffer dam as can be seen in the picture. This sheeting basically narrows the river and allows the contractor a dry place to construct the new abutments. When the coffer dams are all in place the contractor will be driving steel H-beam pilings through the soft clay to provide support for the new footings and abutments.

Notice from the Lee Police Department
The Lee Police Department wants to advise residents of activities that are occurring in and around town. Several communities around us have been experiencing day time home burglaries. It appears that the subject/s will check a home to see if anyone is there. If someone is home, they will come up with an excuse like they were looking for "John" or had an issue with their car. The other problem that we are actually experiencing along with other towns is homemade incendiary devices made out of bottles. Two such devices were found in tow n on Steppingstones Rd. They were beer bottles with either a paper towel or cloth soaked with an accelerate such as gasoline or kerosene. Neither devise actually exploded or even caused any damage. They were simply found lying on the front lawns of two homes. Please be aware of any suspicious vehicles or persons in the area and contact police.

The Lee Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to achieve re-recognition by verifying it meets professional standards.
