Lee Police Chief Chet Murch appointed Interim Town Administrator

News Release from Chairman LaCourse
Lee, New Hampshire - July 19, 2011 – Chet Murch, Lee’s Chief of Police, was appointed Interim Town Administrator by the Board of Selectmen at last evening’s Selectmen’s Meeting.

“Lee will soon initiate a formal search for a permanent Town Administrator,” says Chairman LaCourse, “but the Board felt the Town needed assistance at that position in the interim.  Chet has proven an able administrator of the police department over the years and was willing to step up and help.”

Murch will delegate his police responsibilities to members of his staff while he works full time as the Interim Town Administrator.  “I have a vested interest in the town I call home and feel as if I can continue to be an asset to the community in this role,” states Murch.

The search committee will be chaired by Selectman Jim Griswold and will consist of five members, including two town employees and two members at large from the community.  They hope to complete their work and have a candidate ready for hire this fall.

“We look forward to working with Chief Murch in this new role”, says Chairman LaCourse.  “He is highly goal-oriented, dependable and has a tremendous work ethic.  The Board felt that he was the best choice to fill a key position within the Town.”

Oyster River and Lamprey River Need Your Help
Earlier this year, the Legislature designated segments of the Oyster River and the Lamprey and its major tributaries to the NH Rivers Management and Protection Program (RMPP).  Designation results in better protection and management through a two-tiered approach: state protection of instream values, and local management of riparian lands.

The RMPP is administered by the NH Dept. of Environmental Services (DES), aided by a Local Advisory Committee (LAC) for each designated river.  The LACs develop management plans that are integrated with community master plans and conservation programs.  They also review and comment on any federal, state, or local government plans to approve, license, fund, or construct facilities that would alter the resource values for which the river was designated.

DES has invited the Lee Board of Selectmen to nominate individuals who would be interested in serving on either the Oyster or Lamprey River LAC.  Ideally, they would prefer a broad range of backgrounds, for example, business, agriculture, conservation, government, education, etc.  If you think this might interest you, please notify the Board of Selectmen, 7 Mast Rd., Lee, NH  03861.  Or to learn more about this opportunity click HERE
