Join Us Tomorrow at the Lee Energy Fair

First Ever Lee Energy Fair Tomorrow!
On Saturday, April 16th, Lee will hold its first ever Energy Fair at the Mast Way School on Route 155.

The fair, which will run from 12 noon to 4 p.m., will feature a raffle which will include free energy audits and door prizes donated by vendors.

With unpredictable fuel prices, it is a great opportunity to begin making plans for energy efficiency projects over the summer season in preparation for next winter.

The fair will feature up to 30 booths and vendors, representing alternative energy and green-oriented companies from throughout the region, as well as several presentations from energy conservation and generation specialists, some of which include Green Alliance, Frase Electric, Greenovations, Ultra Geothermal, Turncycle Solutions, Sea Solar Store, Revision Energy, Quality Insulation, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Revolution Energy.

The Fair is being sponsored and conducted by the Lee Energy Committee in coordination with Sustainable Energy and Development Systems (SDES), a NH based energy consulting company.  SDES has been hired with funds from a federal grant awarded to the Lee Energy Committee and administered through the NH Office of Energy and Planning.  In addition to the fair, the grant will assist in creating an Energy Plan for Lee, an Energy Policy Audit for the town regulations, completion of an town building energy audit,  and a feasibility study for a central biomass heating system for the buildings in the town center.

“We are trying to mobilize the town around the idea of clean and efficient local energy, and are taking the temperature of the town to see where people’s priorities lie,” explains Jon Spencer, spokesperson for SDES. “We felt it would be a good way to get people excited about green energy and its promising future in town and throughout New Hampshire.”

To that end, SDES will also use the fair as an opportunity to survey Lee citizens  and to guide the Lee Energy Committee  in developing a handbook to assist residents with reducing energy costs and transitioning to renewable energy that can be produced here in NH.

“We did a smaller fair in Meredith last year where we gave away 8 free energy audits,” recalls Spencer. “People seemed pretty excited about that, because it really is a gift that keeps on giving.”
