Jackson Public Preschool Committee Update - March 2016
MARCH 2016 UPDATE FROM THE JACKSON PUBLIC PRESCHOOL COMMITTEE

On 1/21/16, the committee looking at whether to introduce public preschool in Jackson held a public meeting at the Jackson Library.  Over 20 residents and stakeholders attended.  Thank you for your participation!

We also sent out a survey requesting input from the community.  We received over 25 thoughtful responses. Thank you to all who provided feedback!

A larger committee comprised of tax payers, parents, School Board members, and administrators will be meeting throughout the Spring to collect and review logistical information and to formulate a plan.  If and when the committee has a workable plan to present to the community, we will hold a listening post at a time and date to be determined.

In addition to this daytime meeting and the survey, we invite input from the community at any of the Jackson School Board’s regularly scheduled meetings.  This issue will remain on the agenda as “old business” throughout the Spring as we research the topic.

The next School Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the Jackson Grammar School.

You may also request an opportunity to speak before the Jackson School Board by requesting to be heard as an official agenda item.  Requests may be made to Chair Jerry Dougherty or Superintendent Kevin Richard at least one week in advance of the scheduled meeting that you wish to attend. Please call the school at 383-6861 to get on the agenda.

Thank you,

Jessica DellaValla, Chair
Gayle Dembowski, Teaching Principal, JGS
Dan Mahood, Member, Jackson School Board
