Conservation Commission Minutes - 01/04/2016
Conservation Commission Minutes January 4, 2016

Present were Tom Seidel, Pam Smillie, Dave Matesky, Brian Byrnes, Larry Siebert and Hank Benesh filmed the proceedings.
Mike Dufihlo and Margaret Graciano informed the chairman they would be unable to attend.

We reviewed the minutes of December 7, 2015 and passed them as written unanimously.

Tom had written a rough draft of the commission’s annual report, in it we reviewed the budget for 2015, as well as offered suggestions to the report. Having a nearing deadline Tom was going to take our additions home with him and e-mail us his final version to proof read for grammar.
We discussed the budget for 2015, this is the first year in at least 13 years that we came in under budget. Larry explained that this was because the highway department took over the mowing cost of Prospect Farm which in the past took $1600 of our $2000 annual budget. This inevitably had us reducing the Conservation Commission Money Market Fund, or the Baker Trust, or the Wentworth Trust. This year over $400 will go back to the town.

We reviewed and commented on the Laurie Gabriel easement and how we can become better acquainted with the different easements throughout town. Tom asked if we could work on the easement files that we have to organize and read individual contracts. Different members took different files and consolidated the files and filed them in a more user friendly way for the public.

We briefly looked at NH Nurseries on line and spoke to ordering some more indigenous saplings and seedlings at our February meeting for the Falls area in the Spring. We seem to have a very high success rate with the 80 we planted last spring.

Respectfully submitted,
Larry Siebert
