Conservation Commission Work Session Sunday May 17, 2015
Present were Pam Smillie, Brian Byrne, Margaret Graciano, Dave Matesky, Larry Siebert, Tom Seidel. Residents Bill Terry and James Wrigley volunteered
We met at the Falls at 9AM and Pam read through the planting instructions for the different species of seedlings and we organized into groups of two. We planted in either shady or sunny areas, as specified, that have been worn down by undesired foot traffic, continuing our effort to direct falls visitors onto designated paths.
Others moved wood chips around the picnic tables and to define foot paths. We used stakes, string and signs to identify the newly planted areas as well as marking each transplant with orange flagging.
After two plus hours we had achieved the planting, watering, staking, and spreading of wood chips. In all it was a very successful work session.
