October 11, 2013 Conservation Commission Work Session Minutes
Present were Dave Matesky, Mike Dufihlo, Larry Siebert, and Margaret Graciano.
On arrival we were all pleasantly surprised at the wonderful job the Road Crew did on the new center stair case down from the Parking area. The work that the crew has done around the parking area with two granite stair cases and a ramp not only suit the area aesthetically but will go along way to re-vegetating the worn areas by directing foot traffic and will control the worse erosion.
The Conservation crew spent a few hours scarifying the steep slopes of the parking area and seeding them. We laid erosion control fabric in the steep bare areas and hayed other sections. We also discussed getting wood chips delivered this week for some of the bare areas and the exposed sensitive roots on some of the paths. We also took a look at the foot path created next to the iron bridge on Valley Cross Road, and will be seeding and putting down erosion control fabric hopefully next weekend. Much of this work we decided can be done individually, as each one of us has spare time over the coming weeks.
