Conservation Commission Minutes -- 10/07/2013
October 7, 2013 Conservation Commission Meeting Minutes

Present were Margaret Graciano, Dave Matesky, Brian Byrne, Larry Siebert, Mike Dufihlo, and Pam Smillie. Tom Seidel informed us he would not be able to attend.

George Howard and Hank Benesh were in attendance.

We reviewed the Minutes of September 2, and approved them as written unanimously.

We reviewed the Minutes of September 8, and approved them as written unanimously.

Pam reported that she had spoken with Wink Lees and he believed that the land on Graustein Way was protected by a deed restriction and Pam would look into what the Town’s monitoring responsibilities may be.

George Howard was asking about where he could find a copy of Prospect Farm’s boundaries.  We informed him that the Town had just completed a full survey of the property in the past few years and that there were copies in the Conservation Commission files as well as the Town office. Coincidentally, Sue Chase had just dropped off a copy of an 1860 map of Jackson with the land owner’s names. George also inquired into the possibility of signage for the cellar holes and the progress or lack there of towards obtaining a parking area up at Prospect Farm. We assured him we are plodding along towards both of these goals eventually.

Falls Action Plan: After some discussion we decided to have a work session on Friday October 11th at 3PM to do the seeding and erosion control around the new parking area at the Falls. A motion was made for Larry to buy hay, conservation mix seed, erosion control fabric, stakes and marking tape. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Mystery House Loop Trail: Larry Garland was kind enough to produce a rough outline of the new trail and has offered to help us finalize the map with items of significance we would like to add. The group spent some time penciling in some of the more salient points on the Gray’s Inn property.

6:45 PM the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

Larry Siebert
