Conservation Commission Minutes March 12, 2012

Members present: Dick Bennett, Brian Byrne, Mike Dufilho, David Matesky, Larry Siebert and Pam Smillie.  Hank Dresch absent.  

February, 2012 Minutes were approved.

Upper Saco Valley Land Trust (USVLT) meeting discussed.  A meeting is to be scheduled with USVLT, the Selectmen and the Planning Board for April 2, 2012 at 4:30 or 5PM.

Discussed letter regarding the requirements of the timber cut at Prospect Farm.  We need to add to letter to be sent to enews/town column regarding Prospect Farm timber cut that the forest management plan was voted on and approved by the Town and to add a link to the Jackson Forest Management Plan for more information.

Gray’s Inn property.  May seeding and planting of banks of brook behind library was discussed. Larry Siebert will talk to Greg Howard at the end of April to set up a planting schedule, price and quantity of plants and seed and varieties of plants and seed.  Larry also reminded us that a binder needs to be set up for each DES permit to keep all of the relevant documents together as suggested by Greg Howard.

US Forest Sevice (USFS)/Wildcat Brook/Than Project.  USFS is applying for a DES wetlands permit to add brush in the headwaters of the Wildcat Brook and its tributaries to spawn fish by providing habitat and slowing down the flow of water.  The permit will need to be signed by someone from the Jackson Conservation Commission.

Elections for April.  Elections for positions within the JCC will be held at the next scheduled meeting in April which will be April 2nd.

Agenda for April.  

        Larry would like to discuss the bridge that was washed away that connects the lower park with the island at the Falls.

        Next meeting all the members are urged to bring their conservations issues for discussion.
