Conservation Commission Minutes -- 01/09/2012
Conservation Commission Minutes January 09,2012

Present were Hank Dresch, Dave Matesky, Dick Bennett, Mike Dufilho, and Larry Siebert.

Pam Smillie and Brian Byrne were unable to attend. In attendance were Bill Wogisch and Dave Mason.

The meeting was opened at 5:30, after reviewing the minutes they were approved unanimously as written. The board reviewed the monitoring reports of conservation easements held by the Society for the Protection of NH Forests.

Dick Bennett reviewed the logging progress up at Prospect Farm. Don Johnson said he would be putting up logging signs to warn skiers of possible truck traffic. Don felt that they would be done with the town portion of the logging by the end of February. Mike Dufihlo suggested writing something in E-News to explain to residents why and what the logging up there is all about.

In reviewing and planning the Gray’s Inn work, Mike felt that he could get 8 or 10 signs made up that made people aware that these were re-vegetation areas. A motion was made to pay Greg Howard the Soil Scientist who originally prepared the DES permit in 2008, for consulting with us. It passed unanimously.

Dick Bennett suggested we draw up a plan, with cost estimates for the re-planting stage of the permit. Larry said he would contact Greg Howard as we got closer to the planting in May to get a more accurate number of plants, seedlings, and seed that will be used. Dave Mason had some questions concerning the progress and costs; these were addressed mostly in e-mail from Greg Howard. Bill Wogisch came to the meeting to thank us for a thorough job on the clean up of the property.

As there was no more new business the meeting was adjourned at approximately 6:20 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Larry Siebert
