Conservation Commission Minutes May 12, 2011
Present were Dick Bennett, Larry Siebert, and Pam Smillie. Hank Dresch, Brian Byrne, Mike Dufilho and Dave Matesky were absent. Also in attendance were Town Forester, Don Johnson and Jackson Public Library Trustee, Sarah Duffy.
Don Johnson submitted and discussed the Timber Harvest Proposal for Prospect Farm. Don recommended that the second harvest be done this summer. It depends on the weather if can get it all done.
Statement of appreciation to Phil Davies, past chair, was read into the Minutes by Dick Bennet. Larry Siebert also had letter of appreciation to Phil Davies.
Discussed Gill Bridge- old road. Dick reported there are piles of stuff. Talk to Road Agent. If cut, grasses will come in over a few years.
Discussed changing days of meetings. Need more than 3 people to decide.
Discussed Gray’s Inn property. Need to look at walkway to library from lower parking lot, some landscaping, what need to do for permit and other side of parking lot. John Pietkiewicz walked property with Larry.
All present went to look at the lower parking lot accessible by path to the library and adjacent to the main road to see what needed to be done in terms of improvement. Also, walked and discussed improvement to town property behind the library. Discussed requesting an estimate from John Pietkiewicz for landscaping.
