Emergency Meeting Minutes

April 21, 2004

The emergency meeting of the Hull Board of Selectmen was called to order on Tuesday evening, at the Hull Municipal Building, 253 Atlantic Avenue, Hull, Massachusetts.

Present: John Reilly, Chairman; Leonard Hersch, Vice Chairman; Christopher Olivieri, Clerk; Thomas Burns and Gerard McLaughlin, Members. Also present were: Christopher McCabe, Town Manager, James Lampke, Town Counsel and Acting Deputy Fire Chief Chris Russo.

        Chairman Reilly announced that the emergency meeting had been called primarily because of the sudden and serious illness of Fire Chief Robert Hollingshead while visiting Maine.

        Acting Deputy Fire Chief Chris Russo briefed the Board and gave an updated report on the Chief's condition.

        Reilly assured the public that the Fire Department is being run effectively by Acting Deputy Russo during Chief Hollingshead's absence.

        The Board expressed on behalf of the Town that everyone's thoughts are with the Chief and his family and they wish him a speedy recovery.

        Lampke advised the Board that the Supreme Judicial Court issued its decision in the Hull vs Massport case concerning the airport expansion.  The court ruled against the Town.

        McCabe advised the Board that meetings are continuing with the State DCR on repairs to the MDC seawall.

        A motion was made and duly seconded to go into executive session to discuss to discuss strategy relative to litigation and deployment of security personnel.

ROLL CALL VOTE: Aye, McLaughlin; Aye, Burns; Aye, Olivieri; Aye, Hersch; Aye, Reilly

        The Board moved into executive session.  Following reconvening to open session, the Board adjourned.
