Internal Traffic Committee Minutes 12/07/04
The Internal Traffic Committee met in the Selectmen’s Hearing Room at 78 Main Street, Hudson, Massachusetts.  At 10:00 the Committee called the meeting to order.
Present:  Chief Richard Braga, Chief Fred Dusseault, Tony Marques, Jeff Wood, Jennifer Burke

Technology Drive/Reed Road Intersection
Present:  Ann Hurd & Tom Sullivan, Intel

Ms. Hurd expressed Intel’s concern with the safety of the intersection at Reed Road and Technology Drive.  Drivers use excessive speed and there have been quite a few almost accidents.  She asked if any signage could be posted to caution drivers.

Chief Braga noted that about three months ago a speed study was done and sent to the state.  He will follow up on the status of the study.  The existing 25mph signs are unenforceable.  It was noted that the speed limit on Technology Drive is 40 mph.  Chief Braga also noted that this intersection is not particularly troublesome.

Mr. Marques expressed his concern with duplicating efforts.  It may be impractical to add signs now that later may not be appropriate.  Ms. Hurd said that it might be beneficial to approach it in two steps.  Adding some signage now well show good faith to the Intel employees.  Mr. Marques agreed to add appropriate signage until the Town hears from the state regarding the speed limits.

The Committee discussed adding the stop sign on Loop Road to the Town’s Traffic Rules & Regs.

Morgan Bowl Parking Lot

Chief Braga presented a request from Captain Stephens regarding moving a parking space from the Morgan Bowl lot.  Along the third base line there is a gate for emergency vehicles.  However there is a marked space in front of the gate and when cars are parked there emergency vehicles can not access the field.

Chief Braga, seconded by Chief Dusseault, made a motion to remove by hatch marks one parking space in the Morgan Bowl parking lot immediately in front of the access gate along the third base line.
