Town of Hudson - Board of Selectmen
Minutes –December 28, 2015
78 Main Street  2nd  Floor  7:00 PM

  • Call to Order:
Present were Mr. Quinn, Mr. Parent, Mr. Lucy, Mr. Durant, Mr. Duplisea, Mr. Moses.  Also present were Attorney Cipriano, Chief John Blood and Ms. Santos.
  • Licenses:
Selectmen to consider approval of renewal of an All Alcohol Pouring License, Common Victualler, and Seven Day Entertainment License held by the Old School House, Inc. located at 17 School Street.
Chief Blood stated that on Thursday morning (12/24/15) he did a follow up inspection and all items have been rectified.
The Board asked questions related to the hood design and its purpose, as well as the timeline of the inspection process.  Chief Blood indicated that hood was not designed for open flames, only for charcoal burning.  Chief Blood indicated that the Deputy Fire Chief did an inspection on 12/4/15, but the owner never contacted the fire department for re-inspection.    The Chief responded to the 2nd dumpster fire that occurred on 12/11/15 and was told the owner would be back on 12/14/15.  The Chief refused to sign the permit since the owner never contact the Chief to resolve all the violations.
Attorney Joe Moreira and Mr. Manuel Santos were present.  Attorney Moreira indicated that his client was not aware of any wood burning used for cooking, only for the fireplace.  Attorney Moreira citied his client’s grievance that he was not treated with respect and didn’t receive proper notice of the violations.   
Selectmen Durant indicated his disappointment in Mr. Santos response, Chief Blood and the Board did all they could to help Mr. Santos to resolve the violations to ensure the licenses would be renewed.  Mr. Quinn agreed with Mr. Durant.
On a motion by Mr. Parent, seconded by Mr. Duplisea the Board voted 5-0 to approve the renewal of the All Alcohol Pouring License, Common Victualler, Entertainment, and Sunday Entertainment Licenses for the Old School house, Inc. located at 17 School Street.   
  • Personnel:
Selectmen to consider re-appointing James Quinn to the Board of Trustee/Affordable Housing Trust to a term to expire on 12/31/2017.
On a motion by Mr. Parent, seconded by Mr. Durant the Board voted 4-0-1 to re-appointing James Quinn to the Board of Trustee/Affordable Housing Trust to a term to expire on 12/31/2017.  Mr. Quinn abstained.
Ona motion by Mr. Lucy, seconded by Mr. Durant the Board voted 4-0-1 to strike the motion that was a scrivener’s error.  Mr. Quinn abstained.
  • Adjourn:
On a motion by M r. Lucy, seconded by Mr. Parent the Board voted unanimously to adjourn.
