Minutes –January 15, 2013
Sauta Farms – 20A Hummock Way  at  7:00 PM


  • Call to Order:
Present were Mr. Vereault, Yates, Durant, McGourty, Lucy and Mr. Blazar.  Mr. Marques, Mr. Ferrantino and Ms. Santos were also present.
  • Meetings:
Discussion on  the Town Water Supply.
Chairman Vereault briefly stated that this meeting is being held to continue discussions that took place in October as well as the Board’s meeting of January 11, 2013, where the Director of Public Works discussed water quality issues.
Mr. Vereault also read a statement submitted by Town Counsel, Aldo Cipriano in which it outlines the limits of the Board’s participation in this meeting, due to the agenda not having been posted a full 48 hours prior to meeting.
Public Works Director Tony Marques gave an overview of the Town’s Water Supply, which included the location of the wells, transition system and the water treatment process.
Mr. Peter Ferrantino, Chief Operator detailed the different filtration options used in the filtration process.  Both Mr. Marques and Mr. Ferrantino answered questions from the Board and the residents in attendance.
Mr. Marques stated that he and Mr. Ferrantino have met with a consultant to discuss the different options for the filtration of both Kane and the Cranberry Wells, he expects to receive a report within two months, he also mentioned that Kane Well will remain off line until the filtration issues are resolved.
Mr. Marques stated that he will be submitting two warrant articles for the May 6, 2013 Annual Town Meeting, one for the filtration of Kane Well and one for the filtration of Cranberry Well.
Chairman Vereault thanked Mr. Marques and Mr. Ferrantino for their participation and urged the residents to attend the Annual Town Meeting and encourage other residents to attend as well.
Mr. Yates thanked Mr. Ferrantino, Mr. Marques and Mr. McGourty and acknowledge Representative Hogan presence and invited her to attend a Board of Selectmen’s meeting in order to discuss the possibility of state funding for this project, Representative Hogan indicated that she was looking forward to working with the Executive Assistant and the Board.



  • Adjourn:
On a motion by Mr. Lucy, seconded by Mr. McGourty the Board voted unanimously to adjourn.
