Town of Hudson - Board of Selectmen
Minutes–October 20, 2008
1. Call to Order:
Present were Messieurs Parente, Durant, Leeber, Loura, Lucy, Blazar, and Cipriano. Also present was Ms. Santos.
2. Minutes to be Approved:
Public Session: October 6, 2008
On a motion by Mr. Loura, seconded by Mr. Leeber, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the minutes.
3. Citizen’s Issues:
4. Licenses:
Selectmen to consider an application for a license to sell Christmas Trees at 5 South Street to Raymond Patterson.
On a motion by Mr. Leeber, seconded by Mr. Loura, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the license.
Selectmen to consider application for a Hawker/Peddler license to Garrett R. Patterson for use at 5 South Street.
On a motion by Mr. Loura, seconded by Mr. Leeber, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the license.
5. Personnel:
Selectmen to consider appointing William Weagel as Assistant Treasurer/Collector.
On a motion by Mr. Lucy, seconded by Mr. Loura, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the appointment.
Selectmen to consider approval of advanced sick leave for Robert Regan.
On a motion by Mr. Loura, seconded by Mr. Leeber, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the advanced sick leave.
6. Contracts:
Selectmen to consider award and authorization to sign contract with TMC Services Inc., in the amount of $55,450 (SB) for installation of a leak-detection monitoring system & fuel dispenser upgrade.
On a motion by Mr. Lucy, seconded by Mr. Loura, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the award and authorize the signature.
Selectmen to consider award and authorization to sign a contract with Granite State Minerals for Sodium Chloride at a cost of $67.03/ton (LB).
On a motion by Mr. Loura, seconded by Mr. Leeber, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to approve the award and authorize the signature.
7. General:
Selectmen to consider signing the November 4th 2008 State Election Warrant.
On a motion by Mr. Loura, seconded by Mr. Leeber, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to sign the warrant.
8. Town Issues:
Mr. Leeber has received several phone call from citizens claiming that they are unable to sign up for Verizon Fios. Mr. Leeber requested a list of areas/streets that are not currently ready to received FIOS service.
Mr. Parente suggested that a “Slow Children” sign be erected on Pearl Street. Mr. Blazar stated that non-directional signs are only erected at the request and expense of citizens, however Public Works will order and install the signs.
Mr. Loura would like to have the Internal Traffic Committee review the parking on Pleasant Street,(from Lincoln to Pope Street). Mr. Loura feels that the street is too narrow to allow parking on both sides.
9. Proclamations:
Selectmen to consider granting a proclamation to Luis Medeiros for his 16 years of service to the Hudson Schools.
On a motion by Mr. Loura, seconded by Mr. Leeber, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to issue the proclamation.
10. Correspondence to be Noted by Clerk:
On a motion by Mr. Leeber, seconded by Mr. Santino, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to note correspondence.
11. Adjourn:
On a motion by Mr. Leeber, seconded by Mr. Loura, the Board voted by a margin of 5-0 to adjourn.
