Minutes of Park Commission Meeting
Held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Recreation Office, Town Hall at 7:00 pm
1.      Call Meeting to Order:
Mr. Redding called the meeting to order at 7:00pm.  Members present were Mr. Redding,  Mr. Bowen and Mr. Scafidi.  Also present were Ms. Santos and Mrs. Ghiloni
                
2.      Minutes to Approve:

3.      Citizens Issues / Special Interest Groups:
No one present at this time.

4.      Personnel:
a. Summer Program Volunteers:  Mr. Redding motioned to approve Tom Fahey, Andrea Fahey, Cole Chiasson, Kelsey Bacon and Anne McDonald, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried…

5.      Director’s Report:
a. Summer Program Statistics.  The Director informed the commissioners that all programs were going well with enrollment relatively the same as last summer.  Centennial Beach days passes and season passes were up due to the hot weather, as opposed to last year when the rain was a significant factor.  
                                        
6.      Communications and/or Correspondence to be noted by Commissioners:
None received for Park Commissioners.

7.      Old Business/New Business
a. Bench in Honor of Herb Busch.  Discussion followed regarding placing a granite bench in honor of Herb near the flagpole overlooking Morgan Bowl.  Mr. Redding stated that he also thought that the front field should be named in honor of Herb.  Director said she would look into an area on the front football field to plant a tree with a plaque.  A dedication and exact naming of the field would be discussed at the next Park Commission Meeting.

b. Mr. Redding indicated that he had visited Centennial Beach and was impressed with the overall appearance, but feels there is a need for picnic tables that could be cemented into the ground.  He suggested metal tables so they would be more durable.

c. Mr. Scafidi requested that some work be done on the Sauta baseball field infield that is overgrown with weeds.  Director stated she would send over a Maintenance Request form.

Due to vacations the next meeting of the Park Commission will be on Wednesday, August 24, 2010 at 7:00pm in Recreation Office.
