Minutes of Meeting and Public Hearing Held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011

6:00pm – Discussion of 481 Main Street – Mr. Lyons, Attorney for Mrs. Gerwick
Mr. Parent had several questions regarding the Reserved Rights section of the Conservation Restriction. All members questioned the agricultural use of the property and their concerns about spending approximately a half million dollars on this when the landowner would have the right to lease out the property, making a profit and also questioned the public access to those leased out sections. Discussion followed and the consensus was that the Conservation Restriction needed to be scaled down for open space and forestry management only. Other concerns included the public access using the gas line easement over private property and the cost of the Conservation Restriction to the Town. These issues could be addressed if the landowner is still interested in pursuing the restriction and applying for CPA
funds.
Fire Department – Main Street Station 1
Ms. Burke handed out information for additional work that is needed at Fire Station 1 on Main Street, a project that received funding from the CPA at the May Town Meeting. The two items are the Bell Tower and a Bay Window on the first floor. These items were not included in the original application and the applicant, project manager and the selected design company all believe they are important features of the building. The committee consensus was positive and Ms. Burke will tell them to file and application by the December 30th deadline.
