Meeting minutes for May 15, 2014
Members present:  Peggy Lowell, Lynn Harhay; Libby Westie, Director; absent-Janet Mullins
Old Business
  • Approval of minutes:  voted 2-0
  • Director’s report
  • Book Club:  Plans have been finalized for the Huck Finn trip and speaker
  • Needs Assessment:  Libby got the calendar for the two year process from the MBLC; the names of possible Building committee members were discussed
  • Roof:  Repairs have been scheduled; Libby called again with a reminder
  • Policies:  Item was tabled due to time constraints
  • Historical Society:  A promotion was posted for the next meeting
  • Summer reading:  Help is still needed for the two programs: a storytelling for families with young children and a hands-on science program for older children
  • Book sale:  Item tabled
  • Performance reviews:  Libby conducted reviews with Cindi and Joanie; both assistants would like more computer knowledge
  • Sale of Library land:  A preliminary investigation is ongoing for the use of the land
  • Additional hours:  Funds are available for three extra hours in the summer; Joanie will take new 5-8PM hours on Thursday or Friday
  • Home Day:  Kerry Lee is the Town resident who is spear-heading this program; perhaps a September date with an added harvest festival
New Business
  • Community Center lunch:  The Library has been asked to help serve lunch and discuss its programs on August 14
  • Library lawn:  John, the mower, has suggested work on the lawn; Libby will get a price from him if he does that kind of work
  • Newsletter:  Libby had figures for sending out a Town-wide newsletter; $.22 for 310 pieces, $.14-15 for entire Town,$.37 per piece for 1,100 pieces, for a four page letter plus cost of photocopying
  • Young Adult collection:  the YA collection was moved to the front of the building
  • Children’s section:  Beanbags should be purchased for the children’s area
  • Mail slot:  A mail slot for DVD returns should be located on the back door so they can be returned more easily
  • Vouchers:  Vouchers were signed for Baker and Taylor-$267.65; for Verizon -$44.01, $39.42 and $39.95; Landscape Evaluation-$120.78; Demco-$57.27; and Mike’s Cleaning-$50,00
  • Next meeting:  June 19, 2014; 4PM
