Meeting minutes for April 28, 2014 (Community Center)
Members present: Peggy Lowell, Lynn Harhay; Libby Westie, Director; absent-Janet Mullins
Old Business
- Minutes not voted on due to Peggy’s absence at last meeting and Janet’s at this meeting
- Director’s report
- Book Club: The evening of June 17, 2014 was chosen for the book discussion and speaker; it is open to the entire community; perhaps a screening of the movie will happen; a field trip to the Twain House in Hartford is scheduled for June 23 – the entrance fee would be $12 per person
- Needs Assessment: There is nothing new to report; Libby will continue to do some reading and research the process
- Roof: Repairs have been scheduled, but the exact date is not known; the repairs will be made by the end of June
- Policies: Policies will be discussed at our next meeting; Libby will send an electronic version for us to make our changes on
- Historical Society: Work is continuing on cataloging in the Library; every other month there will be a meeting , with a speaker on the other; Bonnie Fancy has been very involved lately
- Book recommendations: The board for recommendations is up and Libby and Cindi have posted reviews
- CORI checks: The Town will pay for the CORI checks that need to be done
- Libby’s priority list: We went through the items on the list and prioritized them
- Summer reading: Libby met with Amy on April 29 about summer reading; a crew will be needed to help with the program
- Book sale: It was decided to keep the same date as the Town-wide tag sale in August; we will look into adding the Farmers’ market to the same date
- Home Day: Libby has the name of the person interested in initiating the Home Day and will contact her
New Business
- Sale of Library land: Libby spent some time with JoAnn to go over the location of the Library’s land; she will continue to investigate and gather information
- Additional Library hours: Libby will go to her budget-tracker to determine how much money is available; days will be considered and Joanie will be asked if she is interested in additional hours; others will be contacted to see if they are interested in a non-permanent position
- New policies: after Joanie was the recipient of a gift from a resident, it was determined that we should set a policy for gifts to Library personnel and also for postage for ILL requests
- Library funds: We went over the sheet listing the Library’s different funds, how much was in each and how each can be used; it was determined that a newsletter is the priority for any extra funds
- Book purchases: Libby will concentrate on the purchase of large-print books with any book money left at the end of the fiscal year
- Next meeting: May 15, 2014; 4PM
