TRANSPORTATION/CIRCULATION COMMITTEE
RECORD OF MEETING
April 12, 2007

PRESENT: D. Lawton, R. Ferguson, J. Zingarelli, Senior Civil Engineer

1. March meeting record approved.

2. Holden Master Plan

It is reported that there will be a major meeting of the Holden Master Plan Committee, which will include the chairs of all town committees, on June 7, 2007. No news has been received from CMRPC on the computer model study on a proposed I-190/Malden Street interchange.

3. Doyle Road intersections with Brattle and Shrewsbury Streets

It is anticipated that this work will be a Chapter 90 project. No time schedule yet.

4. Chapel Street signage

Jim Zingarelli is working on a plan to simplify and create consistency in the signage along Chapel Street. Jim presented a marked up computer generated map indicating his ideas. These would include elimination of 1) two "Dangerous Intersection" signs approaching Lincoln Avenue, one from each direction, 2) one "Thickly Settled" sign mid-way along Chapel Street, and 3) several inconsistent speed limit signs. New "Thickly Settled Next 1.3 Miles" signs would be installed at each end of Chapel Street. By State statute, a street designated as "Thickly Settled" has a mandated speed limit of 30 mph and this is enforceable by local authorities. Signs indicating curves are possible. T/C is supportive of the changes.

5. Main Street intersections

Nothing new

6. Hess gas station on Main Street

T/C has received a letter from Pam Harding, Town Planner, dated April 3, 2007, asking if T/C has investigated traffic safety issues along this section of Main Street. This was discussed with DPW (Jim Zingarelli) at today's meeting. T/C has not investigated this issue and has no particular input.

7. Wingspan Estates - PP#0107

T/C reviewed plans dated Aug. 9, 2006. No recommendations at this time.

Meeting adjourned at 4:10pm. Next meeting: May 10, 2007 at 3pm.
