SKATEBOARD PARK MINUTES
February 14, 2012
Members Present: Mike Savino, Valerie Taylor, Denise Morano
Members Absent: Nancy Rocheleau, Nate Moore, Jim Jumonville
Guests: Larry Greene
- Valerie reported that approximately 14 designs were submitted from an Art class at Wachusett Regional High School, depicting a logo for the Holden Skateboard Park. After careful consideration of all the designs, the Committee unanimously chose the design submitted by Maggie Casey. Valerie will contact the art teacher (Mr. Ralph Caouette) at the high school, thank him for the many designs, and inform him of the winner of the Logo contest. We would like to be able to present Ms. Casey with a fully equipped Ion-U Skateboard at out next meeting, March 13, 2012 at 5:30p.m. The “Daily Holden” and the Landmark will be notified.
- Mike would like to have a “poker night” as a fundraising event. He will contact Holden Hills to see if the event could be held at their facility.
- Mike asked about donations, and Denise reported that according to the Town accountant, collecting donations for the skateboard park won’t pose a problem, but that these funds are to only be used for the construction of a skate park. Checks can be made out to Holden Recreation, and on the check memo line, indicate that the donation is for the skateboard park. Mike asked about PayPal, and Denise suggested that he contact Lori Rose to get her input.
- The rough draft of a fundraising letter was being fine-tuned by Mark, but since his resignation, no one has worked on it. Valerie will rework the letter.
- The meeting adjourned at 6:50p.m.
