Skateboard Park Committee Meeting Minutes
June 8, 2010
Starbard Building
Members Present: John Blunt, Chair; Nate Moore, Recorder; Mark Flionis, Denise Morano, Recreation Director
Members Absent: Marta Ferrera, Jessica Massery, Susanne Carroll, Ed Carroll, Susan Serewicz, Jacquie Kelly
The meeting was called to order at 5:30pm.
Issues: 1st draft design of the park for the committee to review.
Discussion: Discussion of possibly traveling to some of the local parks over the coming months to get a better perspective of what other towns have built and what our options are . Discussed bringing pictures of other parks to a future meeting for the committee to review.
Issues: All board members need to be sworn to the faithful performance of duties at the Office of the Town Clerk prior to the July Meeting.
Action: Nate Moore, Mark Flionis, & John Blunt were sworn in after the June meeting.
Issue: Site selection
Discussion: All members need to review the list of available properties and come to the July meeting with their top 3 site selections. Targeting the July meeting for the committee to vote on a final site selection.
Issue: Proposal for Architectural and Engineering Design Services
Discussion: Denise presented a 1st draft of the RFP. All members need to review in detail the proposal before the July meeting and come to the meeting with any recommended changes. Need site selected by the committee and approved by the Planning Board, Recreation Committee & Town Selectmen before the RFP goes out for proposal.
Discussion: Copies of the Use of E-Mail/Open Meeting Law, State Ethics Commission, and the Summary of the Conflict of Interest Law for Municipal Employees were distributed and reviewed by the committee.
Issues: Is the Special Town Meeting being held in the fall a realistic date to target for proposing the skateboard park plan and cost to the town.
Action: Will review more in detail in July and August
Issues: Options of setting up a booth for advertising at Holden Days
Action: Will review more in detail in July and August
Discussion: Nate is to contact Susanne & Ed Carroll before the July meeting to find out if they plan on being part of the skateboard park committee. Ed & Carroll have not been present since the 1st meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
The next Skateboard Park Committee meeting will be held on July 13, 2010 @ 5:30pm at the Starbard Building.
