Members Present: John Blunt, Chair; Jessica Massery, Recorder; Marta Ferreira, Mark Flionis, Nathan Moore, Denise Morano, Recreation Director
Guests: Town Selectman David White, Mark Ferreira
Members Absent: Susanne Carroll, Ed Carroll, Sue Serewicz
The Skateboard Park Committee meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm.
Issues: Locations for skateboard park
Responsible Party: John Blunt
Discussion & Decision: The following locations have been considered as possibilities for the skateboard park: Eagle Lake, Holden Police Department, Mountview Middle School, Recreation Department (back yard), CRA. Group discussed each location's opportunities and concerns. After some time, the group's majority are considering Eagle Lake. Would like to investigate other possible town owned properties.
Follow-Up Action: Request records of other locations from Town Clerk's office.
Deadline: May 11, 2010
Project Requirements: Per John's recommendations, the park needs to be 4,000 s.f., at a minimum. The planned cost for the project is approximately $200,000 ($40-$50 s.f.) The Recreation Department has secured start-up funds of $50,000.
Park Design Responsible Parties: John Blunt, Denise Morano, Nathan Moore
Discussion & Decision: John presented a potential draft design of the skateboard park. Group feels that a professional park designer needs to be retained to provide a true schematic design. John recommended that other local skateboard parks were reviewed to gain a better perspective of the park's design. Other parks in the area are Fitchburg, Northboro, Marlboro, Milford and Hudson.
Follow-Up Action: RFP process needs to be implemented.

The next Skateboard Park Committee meeting will be held on May 11, 2010 @ 5:30pm at the Starbard Building.
