Cheryl's daughters oversaw the Art for Fun, which, unfortunately, was not well received. There were about six to eight (6 to 8) women and one (1) man that came to see the Red Sox game on the big screen. There were about 50 people who attended Chuck Skillings' presentation on the history of Jefferson and approximately 60 people (half of which were seniors) attended the North American Birds of Prey program put on by the library. The "Time Machine 1980" was a play put on by Marilyn Hyson and taped by Johnny Suire. It has been running on HCTV.

Louise thanked Rev. Heslinga, Rick Mansfield, Adam Hickey, Jimmy Ringgard and his summer help, Lesley McKinnlay and her friend, and the many other volunteers who helped out at the Trout Brook picnic. The newsletter will continue to be mailed to all of the seniors in Holden. Louise was able to redirect some of last year's formula grant towards the mailing. Louise will put a request in next year's formula grant for one-half of each month's mailing.

Senior Citizen Publishing is now printing the Friends newsletter. They are honoring all of the ads for the advertisers until the end of 2009 and will ask for their continued support.

The new senior van has been delivered to the dealership in Marlboro and will be picked up either Friday or Monday. We are in the process of obtaining insurance and license plates. Louise passed around a photo of the fire department's vehicle with Oriol Health Care displayed on the back and would like to do something similar to that on the senior van. A Bluetooth will be installed at a later date. Jacquie suggested planning a christening and photo op with Oriol and the Friends.

The seasonal flu shots will be distributed on Monday, September 28th between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Louise and Maureen met with Jack Chandler and Andrea Crete to discuss the H1N1 vaccines. Jack had prepared a well thought out flow chart, which needed some tweaking. The vaccines should be available after mid-October. They are in the process of planning local dispensing sites. The Senior Center is one of the possible sites. Sue Sullivan said the schools are discussing a mass immunization either after school or on a Saturday. They have determined that 20 volunteers will be needed all day to do the high school population. Jack will come to the Senior Center's seasonal flu shot clinic to see how it works.

OLD BUSINESS
None.

NEW BUSINESS
The MCOA conference is scheduled for October 7, 8 and 9th in Sturbridge. The registration deadline is September 15th. Cheryl is doing a presentation on Wednesday, October 7th on Maintaining Professional Boundaries. Louise has grant money if any board members would like to attend.

Cheryl is presenting a caregiver workshop at the Senior Center in October, which was made possible by a grant from the Grange and a Service Incentive Grant. Emmett suggested Johnny Suire tape the presentation and have DVDs made to loan out. He increased the amount of the grant to cover the costs Johnny will incur. A laptop computer was also purchased for Cheryl from the grant.

CITIZENS' ADDRESS
None.

ADJOURNMENT
It was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 8:29 a.m.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. at the Holden Senior Center.

Respectfully submitted,
Maureen Buffone
