Louise will talk to Jane Dutton about what program they are using to include the expiration dates.

The Friends have scheduled their annual fair for Saturday, November 7th. The Friends are looking into purchasing a small safe for the office. Joe Dresley will meet with Louise tomorrow to discuss.

HELP AT HOME REPORT ~ Jim Robinson
Jim Robinson submitted a financial report dated May 31, 2009 showing a combined balance of $32,035.26. There has been a net gain of $13,001.00, with 36% of receipts being disbursed. May was a quiet month for activity. There are nine (9) requests currently being investigated which include some unusual requests.

BOARD OF ELDER SERVICES REPORT ~ Rick Mansfield
No representation.

DIRECTOR'S REPORT ~ Louise Charbonneau
Louise outlined June's events as follows: Wed., June 3 ~ Dealing With Stress; Wed., June 3 ~ Greendale Men's Chorus; Fri., June 5 ~ Savvy Seniors Vendor Fair; Mon., June 8 ~ Tina from Bemis Farms plant workshop; Wed., June 10 ~ Is It a Senior Moment? Panel Discussion on Alzheimer's; Mon., June 15 ~ Pen Pal gathering at the Mayo School; Fri., June 19 ~ Annual Strawberry Festival, entertainment by Marti Sawyer; Fri., June 26 ~ Veterans Group Meeting; Thursday, July 2 ~ Fourth of July Celebration; Tuesday, July 14 ~ Victorian Tea; Thursday, July 30 ~ Red Sox Game on the big screen; Friday, August 28 ~ Trout Brook picnic.

The Holden Women's Club made a generous donation in the amount of $200.00 in honor of the person of the year. An anonymous donation was also received from a senior to provide fruits and vegetables to other seniors in need. Paula and Cheryl will oversee this. Louise had leftover grant money in the amount of $2,832.66 which was donated to the Friends to go towards postage for the newsletter. Louise will request one-half of the cost of the mailing the newsletters from next year's formula grant, which will be approximately $2,700.00, and Louise does not anticipate a problem in obtaining that. This will insure that all of Holden's seniors will continue to receive the newsletter each month. Louise submitted a grant proposal to pay Cheryl Owoc an extra four (4) hours a week to bring her up to 19 hours per week. Van fares for lunch rides and medical appointments will also be supplemented.

OLD BUSINESS
Al Ferron provided notes from the visit to Melrose to look at their van. The sub-committee will be going to Billerica to look at their van, and then make a judgment. An order should be placed within the next month, and then the lettering will be discussed.

NEW BUSINESS
The Holden Fire Department has begun 24-hour ambulance coverage. They are in the process of hiring paramedics. The ground breaking for the new facility will take place in the next month or so.

There are no openings on the HCOA board.

CITIZENS' ADDRESS

ADJOURNMENT
It was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 a.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
