COORDINATOR'S REPORT

December was a very busy month at the Senior Center, and we will taper back in January and February.  January's events include the movie "Amazing Grace" being shown on January 3rd, a Birthday Party for Elvis on January 8th, the movie "Hairspray" on January 10th, Alzheimer's Information Session on January 14th, International Day featuring Alaska on January 17th, the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness" will be shown on January 24th, Reminisce with Cindy on January 28th, Ice Cream Social & Musical Bingo on January 29th, and the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" shown on January 31st.

Louise distributed copies of the proposed FY 2009 budget and she asked that everyone keep in mind that it is a DRAFT.  Requested changes are as follows:

An increase in the transportation salaries budget to allow for the salaries of the 2nd van drivers;
An increase in the Outreach salaries line item to cover 1/2 of Dale's salary;
Step increases/cost of living increases in the other salary budgets;
An increase in the maintenance of equipent budget to cover the service contract for the My Senior Center Software;
An increase in the Petro Products line item;
An increase in the Bus Maintenance line item;
An increase in the line item for Programs;
A capital expenditure for a replacement copier;
We are requesting the Postage, Office Supplies, and Outreach Mileage line items be level funded;

Last week the in-town van was ten for its annual state inspection and unfortunately failed.  The mechanic informed us that the upper ball joints and tie rod on the passenger's side are faulty and need replacing.    The vehicle is unsafe to be driven until it is repaired which we are in the process of having done now.  The estimate to have the work done is $573.00.

Jim Oliver has decided not to continue his membership on this Board.  Therefore, we need to fill his position.  If anyone has any suggestions of people who may be interested in joining the Board, please let Louise know, and she will pass them along to Brian.  It was suggested that a young senior be appointed to get baby boomers in.  Louise can ask Cheryl Jenkins for a list of residents between 65 and 79.  A decision should be made fairly soon.

Louise announced that Rosalie Corcoran passed away on Christmas Day, and Jacquie Kelly's dad passed away just before Christmas.

There was  no other old or new business, and a motion to adjourn was made by Al Ferron and seconded by Cheryl Owoc.  The meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Maureen Buffone
