HOLDEN BOARD OF SELECTMEN
SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
July 6, 2009
6:00 PM Selectmen’s Room
Selectmen Present: Kimberly Ferguson, Chair, and Members James Jumonville, Kenneth O’Brien, and David White
Also Present: Jacquelyn Kelly, Assistant Town Manager, D. M. Moschos, Labor Counsel
Chairman Ferguson called the special meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to go into Executive Session pursuant to MGL Chapter 39, Section 23B(3) and Chapter 39, Section 23B(7).
Executive Session
On a motion by Selectman White, seconded by Selectman Jumonville, it was voted to enter into Executive Session to discuss contract negotiations with non-union personnel, and to comply with the provisions of any general or special law, and to return to open session at the conclusion of the Executive Session. Roll Call Vote: Selectman O'Brien - Aye; Selectman Jumonville - Aye; Chairman Ferguson - Aye; Selectman White - Aye.
Return to Open Session
At 6:48 p.m., the Selectmen returned to open session. Attorney Moschos read a Statement approved by the Board of Selectmen disavowing an email sent by an individual Selectman which contained statements that do not reflect the policy of the Town of Holden or the actions of the board. Further, the elements of the email do not represent the position or the views of the Board and are inconsistent with the policies of the Town of Holden. The Board of Selectmen reaffirmed its adherence to the age discrimination laws under state and federal law, and confirmed that the Town of Holden will comply with such laws.
Then at approximately 6:50 p.m., on a motion by Selectman White, seconded by Selectman Jumonville, it was unanimously voted (4-0-0) to adjourn the Special Meeting.
