OTHERS PRESENT: Andrea Crete, Board of Health Agent, Debra Sciascia, Recording Secretary, Randy Mizereck, Consultant, Jack Chandler, Fire Chief
M. Waite called the Board of Health Meeting to order at 5:00PM.
SEPTIC PLAN REVIEWS:
399 Wachusett Street: Malley Engineering for Lisa Baer and George Gardner. Septic upgrade/repair. R. Mizereck was concerned that the existing tank is leaching out. It is unknown how old the tank is.
Conditions:
1. The re-use of the existing 1,000 gallon tank is not recommended. Approval is pending a Title 5 inspection.
M. Waite motioned to approve with condition #1. M. Johnson seconded. All in favor. Approved.
OTHER BUSINESS:
• Emergency Preparedness (EDS): A. Crete and Fire Chief, Jack Chandler updated the Board as to what EDS has planned to date for the H1N1 virus. The high school gym will be used as the main site, with the Senior Center as a back-up site. Presently, they are planning on 18 hours a day for 2 days, which should cover everyone for the H1N1 vaccine. EDS will be assigning dates by streets. They will need a staff of about 50 volunteers, 10 of which should be doctors.
A. Crete was asked to contact the Southboro VNA to help administer the H1N1 vaccines. M. Waite discussed the flu season, and recommended A. Crete schedule the 'regular/yearly' flu shots be scheduled in October, so that they can administer the H1N1 vaccine in November.
There is a scheduled 'walk through' at the high school on August 26th at 7 PM.
• 61 Old Broad Street/septic plan approval: M. Johnson discussed how the approval was handled due to the July meeting being cancelled (lack of quorum). Also discussed were other plans that were on the July agenda.
• M. Waite announced that she will be resigning from the Board due to family commitments.
