MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS
October 22, 2012

Members Present: Beverly Potvin Kenniston and James Dillon.
A motion was made to call the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. by Chairman Kenniston and seconded by James Dillon.
1. Acceptance of Minutes
Motion was made by James Dillon and seconded by Beverly Potvin Kenniston. It was voted to approve the minutes of September 17, 2012.
- New Values and New Growth for FY2013
The Bureau of Local Assessment completed review of Holden’s LA-3 Sales Reports, LA-15 Interim Year Adjustment Report and LA-4 Assessment Classification Report. The total value of the Town for Fiscal Year 2013 is $1,810,899,100. The tax base levy New Growth has been approved by the Department of Revenue.
- Chapter 61A Application Denial
The Board of Assessors voted to disallow land of Alice V. Sobol a/k/a A. Virginia Sobol as Chapter 61A Agricultural Land Classification for Fiscal Year 2014. Land must be 5 acres or more of contiguous land under same ownership being used as working farmland. Notice of Action on the Application to Disallow will be sent.
Beverly Kenniston and Rosemary Scully attended the Worcester County Assessors Association Workshop on Revaluation Overview on October 10.
The Principal Assessor is working on the Recapitulation Sheets and supporting document in order to set the Fiscal Year 2013 Tax Rate. It is expected that the tax rate will increase since the total valuation of the Town has decreased again this year. Final numbers will be available for the next Board meeting.
The next meeting of the Board of Assessors will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. in the Starbard Building. The assessors will adjourn in order to attend the Board of Selectmen’s meeting at Town Hall for the Annual Classification Public Hearing at 7:05 P.M.
